Reaction Steps

To a solution of 3-cyclohexyl-8-(ethoxycarbonyl)-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane-3-carboxylic acid (1-7) (2.50 g, 8.08 mmol) in 80 mL of chloroform was added iodotrimethylsilane (4.75 mL, 16.8 mmol) dropwise. The mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight and warmed up to 50° C. for additional two hours. After the reaction was completed, the volatiles were removed under vacuum to give (3-1) as a yellow solid.
