0.2 g of Pd/C (10%) is added to a suspension of 7.4 mmol of 3-(5-nitro-1H-indol-3-yl)-1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-2-ene in 50 ml of methanol, and the mixture is stirred at room temperature for 12 hours in a hydrogen atmosphere at atmospheric pressure. The mixture is filtered, and the filter residue is subjected to conventional work-up, giving 3-(1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]-oct-3-yl)-1H-indol-5-ylamine.
