Reaction Steps
To the solution of Example G (900 mg, 3.44 mmol) in MeOH (30 mL) was added conc. HCl (10 mL). The resulting solution was heated to reflux for 1 h, quenched with saturated Na2CO3 (100 mL), and extracted with CH2Cl2 (100 mL). After separation, the organic layer was washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated in vacuo to yield 4-((3-methyl-2,4-dioxoimidazolidin-1-yl)methyl)benzoic acid as a yellow solid. The crude product was used without further purification.
