Using the same protocol as described in example 17, step 5, methyl 2-[(4-bromophenyl)(1,3-thiazol-2-yl)methoxy]-4-methylpentanoate from step 2 (441 mg, 1.11 mmol) was hydrolysed with potassium hydroxide. The solid residue obtained was used as such in the next step.
