Procedure
The compound obtained from step 1 (4.8 g) was dissolved in ether, and cooled in an ice bath. LialH4 (0.1 g) was added slowly to the solution. The resulting mixture was reacted at room temperature for 1 hr. before adding water to end the reaction. The resulting solution was then extracted by using water and ester. An organic solution layer was dehydrated over magnesium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The column chromatography was performed thereon, thereby obtaining crude yellowish liquid product (3.44 g, 83% yield) of the title.
