Procedure
Following a procedure analogous to that described above for 49a, but substituting 2-furanoyl chloride, the title compound was obtained in 71% yield: 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.59 (d, J=1.8 Hz, 1H), 7.19 (d, J=3.3 Hz, 1H), 6.54 (dd, J=3.3, 1.8 Hz), 4.12 (q, J=6.9 Hz, 2H), 2.82 (t, J=7.5 Hz, 2H), 2.30 (t, J=7.5 Hz, 2H), 1.72 (m, 2H), 1.64 (m, 2H), 1.38 (m, 4H), 1.25 (t, J=6.9 Hz, 3H); 13C NMR (75.4 MHz, CDCl3) δ 14.07, 23.87, 24.58, 28.68, 28.72, 34.05, 38.14, 59.98, 111.97, 116.68, 146.05, 152.60, 173.52, 189.39.
