To a solution of 109 mg 4-[2-((2S,4S)-2-Cyclobutylcarbamoyl-4-hydroxy-pyrrolidin-1-yl)-2-oxo-ethoxy]-7-methyl-quinoline-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester in 1 ml THF were added 0.24 ml aqueous NaOH (1 M) at 0° C. After 4 h the mixture was brought to pH 4 by adding 1 N HCl and the reaction mixture was concentrated to give the crude product. Yield: 147 mg.
