Reaction Steps
In a round-bottomed flask equipped with a magnetic stir bar, acetyl chloride (1.7 μL, 0.024 mmol) was added to a solution of ethyl 2-(2,5-dimethyl-3-(2-(phenylsulfonyl)benzyl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)acetate (10 mg, 0.024 mmol) in acetonitrile (0.5 mL) at room temperature. The reaction was stirred for 5 minutes, then dichloromethane (10 mL) and NaHCO3 (sat. aq. 10 mL) were added. The dichloromethane layer was separated and dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated to yield ethyl 2-(3-acetyl-2,5-dimethyl-4-(2-(phenylsulfonyl)benzyl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)acetate (8 mgs, 72%).
