Reaction Steps
Hydrogenation of nitrobenzene 11 (0.8 g, 4.2 mmol) and pentanal (0.45 ml, 4.2 mmol) following method described in Example 11 gave 3-hydroxy-3-(3-(pentylamino)phenyl)propanenitrile as a light yellow oil. Yield (0.90 g, 77%).
