0.81 mL of acetyl chloride was slowly added to 5 mL of MeOH at 0° C. The solution was stirred for 30 min at room temperature and then tert-butyl N-{[3-methyl-2-(morpholin-4-yl)-5-nitrophenyl]methyl}carbamate (200 mg, 0.57 mmol) dissolved in 5 mL of MeOH was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 3 h and then evaporated to yield expected compound as an orange solid (162 mg, 99% yield).
