Reaction Steps

N-(3-hydroxyphenyl)acetamide (0.50 g, 3.31 mmol), formaldehyde 37% (678 μL, 2.7 eq), and morpholine (290 μL, 1 eq) were dissolved in 10 mL of EtOH. The reaction mixture was refluxed overnight, evaporated and purified by flash chromatography (DCM/MeOH/NH4OH 9.6:0.4:0.1) to yield expected compound as a pale yellow oil (107 mg, 13% yield). LC-MS: m/z (ESI) 251.3 [M+H]+; 1H NMR (300 MHz, MeOH-d4) δ7.09; (d, J=1.3 Hz, 1H), 6.8-6.9; (m, 2H), 3.6-3.7; (m, 4H), 3.58; (s, 2H), 2.4-2.5; (m, 4H), 2.0; (s, 3H)
