Add trifluoroacetic acid (1 mL) to a solution of (Z)—N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-4-(2-cyclohexylvinyl)-benzylamine (0.49 g, 1.5 mmol) in DCM (10 mL). Stir the mixture at room temperature for 2 h, concentrate in vacuo and purify the residue by SCX chromatography to obtain the title compound (0.3 g, 87%, estimate 10% of alkane present). Use this material in the next step without additional purification. MS (ES+) m/z: 199.3 (M-NH3+H)+.
