Reaction Steps
Thionyl chloride (1.37 mL, 18.8 mmol) was added to a suspension of 1-quinazolin-4-yl-piperidine-4-carboxylic acid (2.20 g, 8.55 mmol) in DCM (40 mL), which results in a clear solution. After being stirred for 2 hours, a precipitate forms and was filtered off to give 1-quinazolin-4-yl-piperidine-4-carbonyl chloride hydrochloride as a white solid (2.0 g).
