| Product | Fenpiclonil | HCID 91724 | — |
Reaction Steps
To 4.2 g of the 3-(2,3-dichlorophenacylamino)acrylonitrile obtained in (a) is added 0.5 g of sodium ethylate in 50 ml of ethanol. The reaction mixture is heated to reflux temperature, cooled to room temperature, poured into a mixture of dilute hydrochloric acid and ice, and stirred for c. 1 hour. The precipitate is isolated by filtraion, washed with water and dried, affording the title compound in quantitative yield. Melting point: 149°-150° C.
