Procedure

In the same manner as described in (a) of (1) of Synthesis Example 2, 12.0 g of the residue was obtained by using 6.2 g of 2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-2-methyl-3-butanone and 6.5 g of 3-phenoxy-4-fluorobenzaldehyde. The residue was purified by column chromatography on 200 g of silica gel (eluent: benzene) to give 5.8 g of 1-(3-phenoxy-4-fluorophenyl)-4-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-4-methyl-1-penten-3-one.
