Reaction Steps
6,7-Dihydroxy-3-(4-aminophenyl)-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one [see Example 51a] (269 mg) is dissolved in ethanol (3 ml). Acetic anhydride (4 ml) is added and the solution heated to 70° for 2.5 h, then left overnight at room temperature. The resulting precipitate is filtered, washed with water and dried to give 7-acetyloxy-6-hydroxy-3-(4-acetylaminophenyl)-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one, m.p. 265°-266°.
