Procedure

A solution of 3,3-bis(4-fluorophenyl)-2-[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)methyl-2H-tetrazol-5-yl]-2-propenal (1.4 g, 3.5 mmoles) and triphenylphosphoranylideneacetaldehyde (1.3 g, 4.3 mmoles) [isolated in Example 69, Step A] in 25 mL of benzene was heated at reflux temperature for 12 hours. The reaction mixture was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue purified by column chromatography on silica gel eluting with 20% (v/v) ethyl acetate in hexane to give 0.9 g of the title compound as an oil. MS (CI): m/e=427 for (M+H)+.
