10 ml of thionyl chloride was added to 1.0 g (4.72×10-3 ml) of 5-hexylthiophene-2-carboxylic acid, followed by stirring for 4 hours under heating at 80° C. and removal of excessive thionyl chloride by reduced-pressure distillation to obtain 5-hexylthiophene-2-carboxylic chloride.
