Reaction Steps

5-(p-Chlorophenyl)-3-hydroxyisoxazole (80.0 g) was slowly added at 80° C. to a toluene solution (80 ml) of (R)-(-)epichlorohydrin (50.0 g), and the reaction solution was stirred for 20 hours at 80°-85° C. After cooling the reaction solution, the deposited crystalline precipitate was washed with cold toluene (200 ml) to give 85.8 g of the desired product.
