A stirred solution of 4-chloro-3-(5-cyclopropyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)-imidazo[1,5-a]quinoxaline (0.15 g) in 10 ml of a 1:1 mixture of CH2Cl2 and ethanol was saturated with ammonia. The reaction was monitored by t.l.c. (silica gel/CH2Cl2 -acetone 4:1) and ammonia was bubbled through the solution in between. When the reaction was completed, the solvent was evaporated in vacuo and the residue was triturated with 10 ml of water. The precipitate was filtered off, rinsed with water and dried to give 0.12 g of the title compound as white needles, m.p. 305°-310° C. (Compound 3).
