Reaction Steps
3,19-Dihydroxyandrost-4-en-17-one (19) is heated under reflux in methanol with one equivalent of p-toluenesulfonylhydrazide (TsNHNH2, a) for 16 hours. After cooling, the mixture is evaporated to give the crude product. Purification yields the tosylhydrazone (20).
