Procedure
To a solution of the alcohol (112 g) from Step 1 in toluene (1.1 L) was added maleic anhydride (150 g). The reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 24 hours. After cooling to room temperature, the toluene was evaporated. The residue was triturated in EtOAc at 0° C., filtered and washed with Et2O to afford the title product as a white solid.
