Reaction Steps
10 g (0.0228 mol) of 5-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)-2-methyl-4-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-pentan-3-one, compound 2 of Example 2 hereinabove, were dissolved in 100 ml of methanol. 1 g of sodium borohydride was added in portions at 0° to 5° C., the mixture was subsequently stirred at room temperature for 15 hours, and 50 ml of 2N hydrochloric acid were added. After 4 hours, the mixture was concentrated by the solvent being distilled off in vacuo. The residue was taken up in 200 ml of methylene chloride and the organic phase was stirred with 100 ml of saturated sodium bicarbonate solution, separated off, washed twice with 100 ml of water each time, dried over sulphate and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in 100 ml of ether, and ethereal hydrochloric acid was added. 7.8 g (81% of theory) of 5-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)-2 -methyl-4-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-pentan-3-ol hydrochloride of melting point 46° to 50° C. were obtained.
