Procedure
3 g of 3-fluoro-4-nitrophenol and 6.9 g of 3,4-dimethylaniline were mixed and stirred for 2 hours at 150° C. After cooling, it was dissolved in dichloromethane and extracted six times with 1N aqueous hydrochloric acid. The organic phase was discarded, and the combined aqueous phases were extracted three times with chloroform. The combined extracts were dried on sodium sulfate, concentrated by evaporation in a vacuum, and the residue was chromatographed on silica gel.
