Reaction Steps

N-(1S,2R)-(2-Hydroxyindan-1-yl)-butyramide (XV, 2.2 g) and 2-methoxypropene (5 mL) were combined with CH2C12 (70 mL) at rt, and methanesulfonic acid (0.05 mL) was added. After 20 min at rt, the reaction mixture was partitioned between half-saturated NaHCO3 (30 mL) and CH2C12 (2×30 mL). The combined organic layers were dried dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give an oil as product: MH+260.1.
