Procedure

To an ice bath cooled solution of the intermediate D3 (2.0 g, 0.0065 moles) in dry pyridine was added dropwise a solution of 5-bromothiophene-2-sulfonyl chloride (1.88 g, 0.0072 moles) in dichloromethane. The mixture was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature. The mixture was evaporated to dryness then purified by chromatography over silica, eluting with hexane up to 50% EtOAc/hexane, affording the title compound D6 as a brown solid (2.1 g, 90%). M-H 532. 1H NMR: δ MeOD 1.45 (9H,s), 2.76 (2H, m), 3.02 (2H, m), 3.30 (6H,s), 3.48 (2H, m), 3.58 (2H, m), 6.47 (1H, s), 7.26 (2H, m), 7.76 (1H, s).
