0.58 g of 10% palladium on carbon were added to a solution of 0.58 g (1.00 mmol) of 4-(1-benzyl-4-hydroxypiperidin-4-yl)-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-(pyridin-4-yl)-1-triisopropylsilyl-1H-pyrrole [prepared as described in step 9(i) above] in 15 ml of methanol. The resulting mixture was stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere at room temperature for 5 hours. At the end of this time, the reaction mixture was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated by evaporation under reduced pressure to give 483 mg (yield 98%) of the title compound as a white amorphous solid.
