) tert-Butyl 4-[(1H-benzimidazol-2-ylamino)methyl]piperidine-1-carboxylate 21b (2.65 g; 8.02 mmol) was treated with 10 ml of TFA under standard conditions. Concentration and trituration of the crude prodcut with n-pentane afforded 2.3 g; ESI-MS [M+H+]=231.15.
