N-{4-{2-[4-(Chloromethyl)phenyl]ethyl}-5-[4-(methylsulfonyl)benzyl]-1,3-thiazol-2-yl}acetamide (150 mg) was suspended in CH3CN (6 ml), and then 28% ammonia solution (0.4 ml) was added to the suspension at 0° C. The reaction mixture was stirred at r.t. for 16 hours, and concentrated in vacuo. The residual solid was washed with water, and purified by preparative silica gel chromatography with CHCl3/MeOH (10:1) as an eluent to give N-{4-{2-[4-(aminomethyl)phenyl]ethyl}-5-[4-(methylsulfonyl)benzyl]-1,3-thiazol-2-yl}acetamide (32.1 mg) as a pale yellow amorphous substance.
