Reaction Steps

To a solution of 2-(4-methoxybenzyl)-5-methoxymethyl-phenyl 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (0.14 g) in methanol (3 mL) was added sodium methoxide (28% methanol solution, 0.047 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was purified by column chromatography on benzenesulfonylpropyl silica gel (eluent: methanol) to give 2-(4-methoxybenzyl)-5-methoxymethylphenyl β-D-glucopyranoside (0.084 g).
