A mixture of 3-(3-dimethylaminomethylphenoxy)propylamine (1.41 g; 6.77 mmoles) [prepared according to the procedure described in Belgian Patent 867,106] and 1-amino-2-methoxycyclobutene-3,4-dione (0.86 g; 6.77 mmoles) in 40 mL of methanol was stirred at ambient temperature for 20 hours and then filtered to give 1.95 g of the title compound.
