Reaction Steps
5 ml of triethylamine was added to a solution of 4.8 g of 2-(nitromethylene)-tetrahydro-2H-1,3-thiazine in 100 ml of dichloromethane at -15° C. under nitrogen. Then a solution of 5.9 g of 3-chloropropylsulfonyl chloride in 50 ml of dichloromethane was added drop-by-drop over 25 minutes. The resulting mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature, stirred for one hour and washed with 2% hydrochloric acid solution. The organic phase was separated, dried (MgSO4) and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was triturated with methanol to give N-(3-chloropropylsulfonyl)-2-(nitromethylene)-tetrahydro-2H-1,3-thiazine (1A), as a solid, m.p.: 99°-99° C.
