Procedure

To a slurry of 3 g of Illinois no. 6 coal and 3 g of original process solvent was added 0.03 g of p-benzoquinone and 0.03 g of sodium carbonate. The resulting mixture was subjected to hydroliquefaction under conditions of Example 1.
