Procedure

A mixture of 3-(1,4-dioxa-spiro[4.5]dec-7-en-8-yl)-1H-indole (10.0 g, 39.2 mmol) and 10% Pd/C (1.0 g) in 100 mL of EtOH was placed under 40 psi of H2 and shaken at 23° C. for 3 h. The Pd/C was removed via filtration, and the solvent evaporated. Flash chromatography (CH2Cl2/MeOH) gave 8.66 g (33.7 mmol, an 86% yield) of the title compound as a white solid. MS (ES) m/z (relative intensity): 258 (M++H, 100).
