Prepared from 2,3-dimethoxy-6-methyl-7-nitro-quinoxaline-5-carbonyl chloride (13) 250 mg (0.80 mmol) and 4-methoxybenzylamine 0.11 mL (0.84 mmol). Reaction was continued for 16 hours, and the crude product was recrystallized from hexanes:ethyl acetate to give yellow needles, 156 mg (47%), mp 187-189° C.; 1H NMR (CDCl3): δ 8.32 (s, 1H, 8-H), 7.28 (d, 2H, J=8.5 Hz), 6.85 (d, 2H, J=8.5 Hz), 6.07 (bs, 1H), 4.61 (d, 2H, J=5.6 Hz), 4.05 (s, 3H), 3.97 (s, 3H), 3.76 (s, 3H), 2.56 (s, 3H); MS (APCI): m/z 413 (M+1).
