A mixture of 160 mg of 5,8-quinoxalinedione and 316 mg of 1-piperazinecarboxylic acid ethyl ester in 10 ml of dioxane was stirred for 3 hours. The resulting solid was collected, washed with ether and dried, giving 150 mg of the desired product as a red solid, mp 180°-195° C. (dec.).
