General Procedure K. 4-(trifluoromethyl)benzaldehyde (153 mg, 1.88 mmol) was added to a stirred solution of 3-ethoxycarbonyl-1,1,1-triphenyl-6-(4-ethylphenyl)-2-aza-1λ5-phosphahexa-1,3,5-triene (Compound 46, 444 mg, 0.88 mmol) in dry acetonitrile (10 ml) and the solution was heated to 60° C. for 18 hours. The solution was concentrated in vacuo, and the crude product was passed through a silica gel column with 15% ethyl acetate in hexane as eluant to give the title compound as a yellow oil.
