To methyl 2-(3-(2,2,2-trifluoroacetamido)phenyl)acetate (1.0 g, 3.8 mmol) at 0° C. was added ClSO2OH (2.3 g, 19.2 mmol). Then the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hr. The mixture was poured into ice water and extracted with DCM. The combined organic layer were dried and concentrated to give the crude product methyl 2-(2-(chlorosulfonyl)-5-(2,2,2-trifluoroacetamido)phenyl)acetate. The product used directly to next reaction.
