A mixture of 7-(benzyloxy)-1-(2-methoxyethyl)-N,N,2-trimethyl-1H-benzimidazole-5-carboxamide (483 mg, 1.31 mmol, Step 1) and 10% palladium-carbon (50 mg) in ethanol (30 mL) was stirred under hydrogen gas for 19 hours. The resulting mixture was filtered through a pad of Celite, and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound as a white solid (347 mg, 95%).
