1-(3-Dimethylamino-5-pentafluorosulfanylphenyl)ethanone (650 mg) was dissolved in methanol (50 ml) and admixed while stirring with trimethyl orthoformate (715 mg) and DL-10-camphorsulfonic acid (10 mg). After stirring for 3 h, more orthoformate (200 mg) was added, and the mixture was stirred for 2 h and left to stand overnight. Then the solvent was drawn off and the residue was dried under high vacuum. 730 mg of crude product were obtained, which were converted directly in the next stage.
