(Z)-1-Chloro-2-phenyl-3-phthalimidopropene (450 mg) is treated as described in Example 14 with hydrazine hydrate (85 mg) in methanol (6 ml). Hydrolysis with 50% aqueous hydrochloric acid (4 ml) and recrystallization of the product from ethanol/diethyl ether gives (Z)-2-phenyl-3-chloroallyl amine as the hydrochloride (142 mg): colorless needles; m.p. 156°-157°;
