Reaction Steps

To a solution of 4-[2-(tert-butoxycarbonylamino-methyl)-pyridin-4-yl]-benzoic acid methyl ester (1.96 g, 5.72 mmol, reference example 56) in CH2Cl2 (19 ml) was added TFA (6 ml). The reaction solution was stirred 3 hrs then concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by trituration with ether. The solids were collected by filtration, washed with ether and dried under vacuum to give 1.68 g of product. MS (EI) m/z 243 (M+H)+.
