Procedure
A solution of 1-(3-ethoxycarbonyl-propionyl)-4-(4-nitro-phenyl)-pyrrolidine-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (0.33 g, Reference Example 12) in acetic acid (5 ml) and 10% palladium on charcoal (0.1 g) was stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere (1 bar) for 20 hours then filtered through a pad of celite. The filtrate was evaporated (40° C. and 2.7 kPa) affording the title compound (0.218 g) as an oil. MS [DCI (reactant gas, ammonia)]: 363 [M+H]+.
