A solution of 2-methylbenzothiazole (5.00 g) and iodomethane (50 g) were stirred in an oil bath at 45° C. for 44 hours. After cooling to room temperature the solid was collected through filtration and the solid was washed with ethyl acetate (2×100 mL) and dried in an oven under high vacuum at 50° C. overnight. There was obtained 8.02 g (82.3% yield) of product.
