Reaction Steps
(E)-Ethyl 3-(5′-chloro-2′-methoxy-biphenyl-4-yl)-but-2-enoate (1.07 g, 91% yield) was prepared from 5-chloro-2-methoxyphenylboronic acid (1.0 g, 5.36 mmol) and (E)-ethyl 3-(4-bromophenyl)-but-2-enoate (0.96 g, 3.57 mmol) by a procedure analogous to that described in example 52a.
