A mixture of 3-nitro-N-phenylpyridin-2-amine from Step A (650 mg, 3.02 mmol) and 10% Pd/C (100 mg) in EtOH (10 mL) was stirred under an atmosphere of hydrogen (ca. 1 atm) for 1 h, then filtered through a celite pad and concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was used without further purification in the next step. MS: m/z=186 (M+1).
