Reaction Steps
A suspension containing 5′-bromo-2-(tetrazole-5-yl)-spiro[cyclopropane-1,3′-[3H]indol]-2′(1′H)-one (153 mg, 0.5 mmol), iodomethane (85 mg, 0.6 mmol) and sodium hydroxide (20 mg, 0.5 mmol) in 5 mL of DMF was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated to dryness in vacuo. The solid residue was chromatographed using hexane and ethyl acetate (v/v 1:1) as eluent. The chromatographed material gave the title compound in 34% yield (55 mg). MS m/z 320 [M+1]+. 1H NMR (CDCl3): δ 8.52 (s, 1H), 7.27 (m, 1H), 7.04 (br, 1H), 6.80 (m, 1H), 4.34 (s, 3H), 3.35 (t, 1H), 2.48 (m, 1H), 2.05 (m, 1H).
