To a solution of Cul (2.4 mg, 12 μmol) in triethylamine (4 ml) were added (2-ethynyl-6-methyl-pyridin-3-yl)amine (33 mg, 0.33 mmol described in Example 7), (PPh3)2PdCl2 (8.8 mg, 12 μmol), and 3-iodobenzonitrile (57 mg, 0.25 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 48 h. The solvent was evaporated and the crude residue was purified by flash chromatography (cyclohexane/ethyl acetate 1:1) to yield 16 mg (69 μmol, 21%) of 3-(3-amino-6-methyl-pyridin-2-ylethynyl)-benzonitrile as a pale yellow solid.
