Procedure
To a solution of N-[6-(5-chloro-2-methoxy-phenyl)-4-p-tolylamino-pyridin-2-yl]-acetamide (15 mg, 0.039) prepared according to Example 5 in ethanol (4 ml) was added hydrazine (0.01 ml). After heating under reflux for 3 hours, the mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was treated with water (40 ml) and extracted with ethyl acetate (50 ml). The organic extract was dried over sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (6 mg, 45% yield). 1H NMR (acetone-d6) δ 2.31 (s, 3H, CH3), 3.90 (s, 3H, CH3), 5.40 (s, 2H, NH2), 6.16 (t, 1H, J=2.0 Hz, Ar), 7.04 (bs, 1H, Ar), 7.09 (t, 1H, J=8.8 Hz, Ar), 7.17 (bs, 4H, Ar), 7.32 (dd, 1H, J=8.8 Hz, J=2.8 Hz, Ar), 7.72 (s, 1H, NH), 7.93 (d, 1H, J=2.8 Hz, Ar).
