Reaction Steps

A mixture of the product of step (iv) (6.1 g), polyphosphoric acid (30 ml) and sulpholane (20 ml) was heated at 200° C. for 30 minutes. The cooled mixture was partitioned between ethyl acetate and ice/water. The organic phase was dried (MgSO4) and evaporated under reduced pressure. Purification was by chromatography eluting with 50% toluene in isohexane. Yield 2.71 g.
